“Bending, twisting, twirling and rolling are an art form which requires great concentration and discipline and of course many years of hard training.”
In our Boundless Recreational Gymnastics Program children are trained on all Olympic apparatus, including trampoline. Each child experiences success and individual accomplishments with each new skill learned. We encourage a learning environment that is fun, challenging, safe and progressive. Classes can be from one or two hours per week. Two classes weekly are recommended for children to improve their motor skills. As students progress, they can be moved to more advanced classes that will enhance their skills even further.
Typical Class: In every class there is a 10-15 minute stretch and warm-up that begins each class. It helps students to develop flexibility and strength while safely preparing for gymnastics (sometimes serving as an emotional adjustment to class). Please make every effort to arrive on time. Following this the classes will divide up and use any of the different apparatuses for approximately 15 minutes (this varies with class age and level). All classes will use all of the events even if it is not in the same day. Classes also offer a social opportunity for your child with children their own age. Each class is designed to optimize your child’s physical, social, psychological, and emotional development.
Advancement: Here at Boundless we have a wide variety of classes and levels. A child’s level is determined by one of our qualified staff members. Twice a year we have move-up qualification for those students who we feel are ready for the next level. Many students in our gymnastics programs remain in the same level for 2 to 3 years as gymnastics is a very demanding sport physically and mentally.
Safety: Recreational gymnastics, with proper instruction, is a safe sport. The fundamentals and basics in gymnastics are extremely important for safety and progression. Repetition is the key to obtaining these skills safely. When the body is trained to habitually perform a basic skill, other skills can be added safely. Boundless Staff attend several clinics and workshops a year to ensure we continue safe and progressive gymnastics.
Attire: A leotard is the preferred attire for girls; shorts and T-shirt for boys (fitted). Children should remove all jewelry and tie back shoulder length hair.
Make-ups: Each child is permitted one make-up per month. Please schedule make-up classes online.
